Come help us raise money for the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital through the power of karaoke. 

We've pledged to raise $1M, the proceeds of which will go toward the construction of a brand new facility in Mission Bay. What we raise will cover so many of the things that make a child's stay as comfortable as possible (music, art, and animal therapy and multimedia patient rooms that even help students connect to their classrooms, and so much more). These are the things that health care simply doesn't cover. 

The rules are simple:

Each song you sing is a $1. "Premium" songs will cost you a little extra (think: Journey's "Don't Stop Believing").

Another fun twist: you can pay to embarrass your pals. If you want to get a pal to sing a song (think: Natalie Imbruglia's "Torn") you can pay a little more. And if said friend wants to get the hell out of singing "Torn," they have to pay a slightly higher rate.

The rates haven't been set in stone yet, but you can estimate approximately $3 to force someone to sing a song of your choosing, $5 to get out of singing.

It's going to be an incredibly fun evening. The generous folks at Maggie McGarrys are giving us full control of their karaoke machine for four hours, and allowing us to take every last dime we raise during that portion, all of which will go to UCSF. Their utterly charming karaoke hostess, Eileen Murphy, will be the lovely redhead running the show.
